Mastopathy, breast cancer and iodolactone [English Translation]

"Conclusion: A source of nutrition which emphasizes seafood and, thereby, provides a source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and iodine is a dietary basis for iodolactone formation. This could be the reason for the low incidence of breast cancer in Japan. Iodolactones can by synthesized in the laboratory. Their therapeutic use in goiter has been tested successfully. A possible application in proliferative mastopathy and breast cancer is conceivable based on the associated pathophysiology."
